My friend list is 3 journal entries barely replied to. All of the threads I was spying on have been abandoned. I'd say RIP Wands. It was fun, guys. | | Tuesday, July 14th, 2009 | | 1:15 pm |

Copy and paste the following Application and comment to this post with a link to the application IN THE JOURNAL YOU WILL USE to be considered for play. The "CHARACTER" portion of this application must be made available and public after acceptance in your in-character journal.
If you want to f-lock your application post to keep your contact info private, please remember to friend wands_mod before submitting the application.
We're looking for characters who can balance the offbeat comedy with the serious drama. Consider having a nuerosis, funny habit, or obsession. Elliot is a nervous pooer, JD is obsessed with his hair, and Janitor is a compulsive liar. What makes your character unique and funny?
IF YOU'RE ACCEPTED:
1. Do not request admission, instead check Asylum Invitations under Asylums on the sidebar and accept.
2. Make an OOC intro post
3. Aside from the posting minimum, please make sure to post a thread or journal entry within 5 days of acceptance or you will be assumed a no-show and swept.

Rules |
Characters
1. Only characters listed are available. This list has been crafted to make sure everyone in a year doesn't end up working in the same place, but also to weed out some common Mary Sue characters and keep everything right with post-war Canon. Please don't ask us to add or move anyone or change their age.
2. All characters must start with a sexuality and if it changes you need to get it mod approved. That doesn't mean it can't be a secret, but you need that in your application and it must be justified. This game is not meant to play out random sexual fantasies, sexuality, like any sexual plot, must be character/plot appropriate. Please consider the character before deciding on a sexuality. Some things are a pretty big part of the character (I will not take a gay Draco, etc).
3. No Mary Sues.
4. You must have a PB and we ask that your default icon at the very least be a picture with their face, not a drawing or abstract photograph of a shoe, etc. Also, we require icons be of quality. That means no pixelated, poorly cropped, stretched, or really fast moving animated icons. These make a bad impression on interested players and they're distracting to thread with. We can help you if you're in need of icons. Make an OOC request and we'd be glad to throw some at you!
5. YOU MAY NOT use a movie casting as a played by. We don't want a mix of movie castings and random actors. Most of the movie actors are too young for this timeline. Check out amy_icons for some faces to jump start your brain. We can figure it out together if you need help.
6. KEEP YOUR APPLICATION in your journal or user info after acceptance. Keep the character portions public!
8. NO APPLYING without the journal already made. It bothers us so much that we will not accept you because we like to add everything to the info all at once on acceptance.

Players
1. Players must be active with each character for at least a week before picking up more. There is a limit of four characters per player. Moderation reserves the right to allow someone to pick up more characters. This judgement is based on player history and activity. Understand that this rule is only to prevent the people who apply for four characters and only ever play one or never start playing from doing so. It is nothing against new people we haven't roleplayed with yet and we'd be THRILLED to see you pick up more after a week.
2. Must be 18 or older to play. We're covering our arses. Of course we can't acually check, it's impossible, but please realize that if you get in trouble for mature content, it is not our fault. We do not encourage you to do anything you know is against the rules and we like to protect our players. All mature content is fiction and intended for storytelling purposes.
3. If you get really busy and tell us so, we'll understand, but if you are always busy, never online, and it goes on for a long period of time (even if you post, we want to see taggage going on), and especially if a character's player complains about you abandoning their plot for weeks on end, we will have the right to sweep you. There is no "well her character isn't important so she can old onto her". If they inconvenience ANYONE by being non present they are important enough to sweep.
4. Moderation reserves the right to boot anyone at any time without warning.
5. DO NOT drop bombs in the OOC. That's what starts OOC Drama.
6. We reserve the right to reject any played by we find unfitting or just entirely annoying. This means that you should avoid Brit and K-Fed, Boyd Holbrook and Cintia Dicker, and any scene kid. There is no official list, but if we ask you to change the PB, that is our right as mods. Bad PBs turn people away from good games. It's a fact of life. We wish it wasn't.
7. From acceptance you have five days to post an intro and a journal or action post. This is so that I can quickly weed out no shows instead of having a character tied up for two weeks with no intention of ever being played. It's sad, but in this day and age of online RP, some people do spend hours applying only to never play.

Gameplay
1. NO ADLIBBING (deciding words or actions for other player characters). Also think about power-playing, meta-gaming, and all those other nasty terms. It's not acceptable. Pressuring other players into plots an actions they DO NOT want to participate in is power playing and against the rules.
2. Major plot of character developments (depression, death, pregnancy, etc.) must be cleared by moderator and if the plot involves another player's character, cleared with that player as well. The purpose of this rule is to avoid one player doing something that screws up another character or throws a wrench in the whole game.
3. You must originate one post in story form every 14 day MINIMUM (Once a week is highly suggested. Periodic "sweeps" will be done to clear out inactive players.) You also must be active in that post (throwing it up for minimum activity and then only tagging once every 3 days is not acceptable). We don't have to give warning. One journal post per week.
4. Anything that could get you in trouble in most countries (theft, murder) could get you in the Harry Potter. This is a workplace with rules. There are still laws. There are secrecy statutes. Remember that and play it out. If you character is getting in fights or doing something major, moderation needs to know to plot accordingly. You may get busted.
5. OOC Posts belong in the OOC community!
6. Ask if you're not sure your character knows something. If the person controlling that information didn't say your character knows or their group knows, chances are they don't.
7. Expect sexual content. Sex happens. You have a right to inform other players if you do not want your characters in sexual situations, but do not preach to those who do. That said, please don't overdo it (Meaning: have other plot).
8. All community posts should have a WHO, WHAT, WHERE description and an Lj-cut that is titled "My ____" (like the [Scrubs] episode titles. AIM transcripts go behind LJ-cut tags and should have a description and warning of sexual content. They belong, in story form, in the main community and do count as your action post.
9. Do NOT be a snob. If your post is tagged, reply.
10. If you keep posting open threads and nobody tags them, maybe you aren't making them open enough for characters to be comfortable slipping into. Rather than complaining that nobody will plot with you, try posting on someone else's open thread. It takes two to play... at the very least. Then if you really aren't getting plot, you can talk to a mod. Try other things first. Also note that if all of your threads are to specific areas that other characters can't enter (Locker room, offices, apartments) you limit who can tag.
11. Journals function as a Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes product. They can be made private or viewable only to certain people. This cannot be as vague as "Blocked to People I don't Like" because it may confused players as to who can actually read it. Strikeouts are NOT legible.
12. Don't barge in on other's threads without considering if they want to be interrupted. When in doubt, ask.
13. RPing is in PAST tense, THIRD PERSON, dialogue goes in "QUOTES" Please refrain from bolding or italicizing dialogue. We know what quotations mean. Also please avoid OOC references in roleplaying. This is something like: "Harry ran up the stairs quickly, which if his player did, she would have fallen on her face." It's really annoying and slows the thread with useless information. Also keep an eye on tense when talking about your characters likes and dislikes or what they often do. Those should still be in PAST tense and a lot of players tend to slip into present.
14. Do not get on anyone's case about length. We have no post length requirements here. You can write two sentences, you can write three paragraphs, as long as you keep the story moving. From our experience, the two-liners usually say just as much and sometimes it's better written. This isn't a word count contest, it is a game. If we hear from any player that they feel harassed about their word count by anyone else, we will be doing some sweeps. This is a game. And less is sometimes more.
15. Keep your threads open (no f-locks unless it's sex, then we'll allow locking) so that we can tag from our iPods and iPhones and sneak on at work.
